MyPicture

I'm a Stafford based developer and web designer. I create clean, responsive, user-friendly websites and supporting back end code. My current tools of choice are .Net, HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, and MSSQL. Being both an engineer and designer, I help clients bring their ideas into reality.

As a front-end developer I have an extensive knowledge of HTML, CSS, jQuery and JavaScript. I also use .Net and MSSQL when creating the back-end of websites that need more dynamic content. Using these web development techniques, I build cross browser compatible websites that are up to current web standards. I also use a variety of on-site SEO techniques and best practices to get websites found. I take advantage of online tools when looking to optimise and squeeze as much performance as possible out of my sites. Online tools such as GTMetrix, Y-Slow and the W3C HTML, CSS and mobile test sites have become invaluable.

My software knowledge includes Photoshop, Visual Studio, MSSQL Management Studio, Web Expression, Office Apps, all browsers, the list continues. There's always a piece of software I use that allows me to get the job done.

Dataflexnet

Senior Developer

I work as a Web Developer and since joining have been responsible for a number of projects. When I first joined I suggested investigating how the company website could be improved. I replaced the flash with animated HTML, improved efficiency by reducing image sizes and minifying code, added social media links and their respective accounts, and created a section for adding news and events in an attempt to encourage regular content updates to help with SEO and product awareness, I improved performance of the site from 45% to 80% by using free tools such as GTMetrix and Y-Slow.
I was later tasked with investigating a .NET based CMS system that could be used to migrate a large customer facing website, making it easier to manage content changes. I looked into both Umbraco and Orchard CMS, getting an overall understanding of both, but a much more in depth understanding of the latter. I created a duplicate of the live site in development utilising the custom modules system within Orchard.
A progression from the CMS investigation and after looking into traffic statistics, it was apparent that over 30% of the sites traffic was from mobile/handheld devices. The site didn’t have a responsive design so it was decided I would work on that. I created several page designs in Photoshop that were approved and then went on to start developing the pages in code (HTML5, CSS, and jQuery).
My most recent project is a web portal for a high profile Credit Card Issuer. The issuer will be able to add accounts to the system and assign cards to be used as parent cards, providing the account holders with the ability to generate virtual cards. The virtual card system providing a much more secure and traceable way to give employees access to company credit while necessary for business trips and other meetings. This year I was taken to the Business Travel Show to represent the company as a consultant in any of the technical aspects involved with the solutions the company provides.
